Send a Sound
In the early stages of Lockdown we launched a collaborative music making project with our tutor Robbie aka Rondo Mo. We invited young people and members of the wider community in Thanet to send us an audio recording, with which Robbie would cobble together into a track and share every Friday. Our hope was that we would provide a means of creative connection during that strange time of isolation. The results were mesmerising! Robbie did a fantastic job of bringing together such a diverse range of sounds to present some really unique compositions.
Last night Robbie was invited to chat with Dom King at BBC Kent to talk about the project and we were excited to annouce that the Send a Sound album (including 9 tracks) will be released on 25th September with all proceeds going back into AEE Recordings (our youth led record label) where our music participants will have full control as to how that money is invested within the programme.
Dom also played one of the tracks from the album featuring Falle Nioke, one of our young producers and two of our tutors, Jax and Abi. You can listen below.
This turned out to be a great collaborative project and listening back, it really captures the moment with all its disparate sonic textures and collaged voices. We are now in the process of creating artwork with young people and a 1 hour radio show for Margate Radio.
